How to Make Suncatchers from Recycled Items

April 14, 2020

When I buy organic zucchini it comes in a pack of two plastic wrapped to a clear tray and I hate throwing the trays out. So when Makayla (1st grade) was assigned a Utilitarian Art project as part of her "safer-at-home" distance learning during this pandemic, we decided  to out the trays to good use. Hope you enjoy her tutorial on how to make a simple suncatcher.

Items Needed:

  • Clear plastic plate or tray

  • colored tissue paper (or tracing paper that you can color on)

  • glue or Modge Podge

  • hole punch

  • ribbon or string (to hang it in the sun)

  • Optional - any other bedazzling items that can reflect or shimmer in the sun.
