DIY Twinkle Mason Jar Light

July 27, 2018

This craft is pretty quick and great for kids ages 4 and up. It can be used as playroom decor or bedroom nightlight! Let the kids select the paper, paint color, toy and stickers to express their creative side! Parents - you control the glue gun...and viola a family project with little cost and little mess!

  • 1 sheet of your favorite scrapbook paper (about $.69-.99 cents at a craft store with tons to choose from!)

  • 1 mason jar  (can make as large or small as you want)

  • Paint (acrylic)

  • small kids toy  (pick from home or Dollar Store - leave plain or paint it to match your decor - we used a white polar bear for a winter themed twinkle light)

  • Hot glue

  • stickers (optional)

  • ribbon (optional)

STEP 1:

Lay the mason jar on its side on top of the backside of the scrapbook paper (draw a line where the jar begins to dip in. Cut lengthwise to create the inner jar design

STEP 2:

Paint both parts of the metal lid - let dry throughly before glueing the toy on top or adding stickers. If you are painting the toy do that now as well.

STEP 3:

Hot glue the toy to the center of the painted (and dry) lid. Add stickers, gems of any other fun crafts accessories that might fit.

Place in a battery powered light - can use string lights or single candle.
